Israel is worried for the Saudis

"Israeli officials want a public commitment from Washington to protect the Saudi regime should it come under threat." You're supposed to pretend there isn't a solid Israeli-Saudi alliance. Actually the Wall Street Journal is one of the better American newspapers if you want to understand US foreign policies because it's not supposed to be read by the wider public but business-oriented folks who want to understand things properly so their newspapers are so heavy in propaganda.
